Listed Buildings and Fire

In all instances of fire, you should evacuate and Dial 999 to alert the NI fire & Rescue Service. However, there a special measures that can be taken to cause the least amount of permanent damage to a Listed Building’s historic fabric.

Reporting Fire in a Listed Building

When you Dial 999, you should tell the NI Fire & Rescue Service that the building is Listed. 

There are special measures in place, so that in the right circumstances, a fire in a historic building may be extinguished using methods which will cause the least amount of permanent damage to the building’s historic fabric.

Fire Prevention in Historic Structures       

A number of Fire Advice guidance documents have been produced by Historic England which are also relevant to properties in Northern Ireland.
